WAVERLY, Ia. – The Calvin women's track and field team had a record-setting Friday at the Wartburg Final Indoor Qualifier.
Sophomore
Ella Easterling (Norton, Oh./Norton HS) broke a 12-year old Calvin record in the pentathlon, scoring 3,135 points over the five-event competition. Her total was 25 points better than the previous school mark of 3,110 points set by Bethany Van Eck in 2014.
Easterling opened the competition with a jump of 1.5 meters (4-11) and then came up with a career-best time of 9.25 in the 60 meter hurdles. She followed with a toss of 37-3 in the shot put, second amongst the 14 competitors. She added a long jump of 4.77 meters (15-7 ¾) and closed the competition with a career-best time of 2:42.93 in the 800 meter run.
Calvin's distance medley relay closed out Friday with a school-record time of 11:45.19, breaking the previous record of 11:46.92 set in 2022. Calvin's record relay consisted of freshman

Sophie Bull (Denver, Co./Denver Christian HS). The time bumps Calvin into eighth place nationally on the Division III women's indoor performance list and should qualify the group for next week's NCAA III Indoor Track and Field Championships.Â
