Jalen Overway and
Trevin Winkle received postseason honors from the MIAA on Friday. Overway was named MIAA Most Valuable Player and All-MIAA First Team, while Winkle earned All-MIAA Second Team honors.

The two players earned the conference recognition following a regular season in which the Knights went 18-7 overall and 10-4 in league play, with the two players helping Calvin finish with the highest-scoring offense in conference contests at 82.4 points per game.

Overway (Holland, Mich./Holland Christian) earned MIAA Most Valuable Player and All-MIAA First Team honors for the third time in his career. He won the honors in his first two seasons (2022-23 and 2023-24) before missing last season due to injury. This season, the redshirt junior center averaged a career-high 24.7 points per game on 64.5 percent shooting in league play to lead the conference in both statistics.

During conference play, Overway scored at least 30 points in five different contests and recorded six double-doubles. For the season, he averaged career-highs with 23.5 points, 10.6 rebounds and 3.4 assists per game while shooting 62.6 percent from the field and 71.0 percent from the free throw line. He has 14 double-doubles this season and has helped the Knights lead all of NCAA III in defensive rebounds per game (32.1) while anchoring a defense that ranks third in NCAA III in opponents' field goal percentage (36.8 percent).

A two-time All-American and 2024 NABC District Player of the Year, Overway ranks seventh in Calvin men's basketball program history with 1,702 career points and sixth in career rebounds with 854. He also made the Bevo Francis Top 50 Watch List, which recognizes the best small-college player in college basketball, for the third time in his career.

Winkle (McBain, Mich./Northern Michigan Christian) earned All-MIAA Second Team honors for the second straight season after averaging 14.0 points and 5.1 rebounds per game on 47.6 percent shooting during MIAA contests. The senior wing scored at least 10 points in 12 of 14 conference games, including a career-high 24 points in the Knights' win over Hope College to end the regular season on February 21.

For the season, Winkle averaged career-highs in points (13.2), rebounds (6.2) and assists (3.2) per game while shooting 50.5 percent from the field and 38.6 percent from three-point range.

Overway, Winkle and the Calvin men's basketball team will return to action tonight (Friday, February 27) when it plays Hope College in the semifinal round of the MIAA Men's Basketball Tournament presented by Collegiate Credit Union at The University of Olivet at 5:30 PM.
