Calvin University junior Nick Bultje was named MCVL Defensive Player of the Week for men's volleyball on Tuesday.
 
Bultje (Byron Center, Mich./South Christian) won the honor after helping the Knights to a 4-0 week at the Calvin Invite with three-set wins over The University of Olivet, Franklin College, St. Norbert College and Rockford University.
 
At the three-day event, Bultje averaged 1.42 blocks per set in 12 sets and helped the Knights average 2.33 blocks per set as a team. He also averaged 2.42 kills per set with a .436 attack efficiency over the four matches.
 
This season, Bultje is 1.24 blocks per set to go with 2.44 kills per set for the 8-2 Knights, helping the team already match the program's most wins in a season.
 
Calvin men's volleyball will return to action on Friday, February 20, when it plays at Mount St. Joseph University in a match scheduled to start at 7:00 PM.
