RESULTS
ALLENDALE, Mich. – The Calvin women's track and field team put together a monster set of performances together at the Grand Valley State Big Meet on Saturday.
Highlighting the day was the performance of graduate student
Sydney Radigan (Portland, Ore./St. Stephen's Academy) who raced to the win in the 60 meter dash with a school-record time of 7.57. The time surpassed her own school mark of 7.61 set back on December 5. Her time ranks fourth on the NCAA III Indoor performance list.
Radigan was part of three Knights in the 60 meter dash with sophomore
Jessica Bossenbroek (Holt, Mich./Holt HS) taking 33
rd (8.13) and freshman
Kaitlyn DiMaggio (Dearborn, Mich./Dearborn HS) 36
th (8.17).
In the distance medley relay, the Calvin relay team of freshman
Ayla Holben (DeWitt, Mich./DeWitt HS), freshman
Abby Lambers (Hudsonville, Mich./Unity Christian HS), junior
Hailey Erickson (Arlington Heights, Ill./Prospect HS) and senior
Sophie Bull (Denver, Colo./Denver Christian HS) placed 12
th with a season-best time of 11:59.85 that ranks fourth on the NCAA III Indoor performance list.
In the 60 meter hurdles, senior
Mia DeJonge (Bellevue, Wash./Bellevue Christian HS) was fifth (9.02), freshman
Ava Sanchez-Mustapha (Okemos, Mich./Lansing Christian HS) was 19
th (9.34), sophomore
Cadence Drougal (Rockford, Mich./Rockford HS) 20
th (9.35) and Lambers 25
th (9.45).
Freshman
Lola Davey (Cedar Springs, Mich./Rockford HS) was 29
th with a personal-best time of 1:00.46.
Sophomore
Peyton Ludwig (Ada, Mich./Forest Hills Central HS) took seventh in the 800 meters with a season-best time of 2:16.98 that ranks 70
th nationally and near the top of the MIAA performance list. Freshman
Emma Wierenga (Grafton, Mass./Whitinsville Christian HS) was 16
th in a season-best time of 2:17.54 with her time ranking 79
th nationally and in the MIAA's top group. Sophomore
Kennedi Wood (Comstock Park, Mich./Sparta HS) was 16
th in a season-best time of 2:19.87 with Erickson 22
nd in a season-best time of 2:22.47 and Holben 25
th in 2:23.50.
Wood was also 36
th in the mile with a season-best time of 5:30.94 with senior
Catie Kramer (Pickerington, Ont./Dunbarton HS) 43
rd in 5:36.04.
In the women's high jump, sophomore
Ava Epley (Commerce Charter Township, MI/Walled Lake Northern) was 13
th in a season-best mark of 5-0 ¼ with freshman
Natalie Hensel (Battle Creek, Mich./Penfield HS) 20
th (4-10 ¼).
Calvin's 4x400 relay capped off the meet by placing seventh in a season-best time of 3:59.70 that ranks 33
rd nationally. The relay team consisted of Bossenbroek, Davey, freshman
Jillian Tunnicliff (St. Joseph, Mich./St. Joseph HS) and sophomore
Emerson Nordbeck (Livonia, Mich./Franklin HS).
COACHES COMMENT: "A great day for our women's track and field team," said Calvin head track and field coach
Adam Haldorson. "It was great to see Sydney get out on the track and set another record. The rest of our team was excellent as well. We had many season-best performances. Our distance medley relay was a nice surprise and our 4x400 relay picked it up another gear. Great to see without a doubt. We are looking forward to the competition that lies ahead of us in the coming weeks."
NEXT UP: Calvin will send a group of athletes to compete in the first-ever MIAA Multi-Event Championships Monday at Alma College. Four members of the Calvin women's track and field program will compete in the (five event) pentathlon competition. The results will count into the final point totals in the full MIAA Indoor Track and Field Championships scheduled for February 27 and 28 at Trine University.
