ALLENDALE, Mich. - Today the Calvin women's indoor track and field team made the short trip to compete at Grand Valley State where it posted several new personal records and top times.

In the field portion of the day, senior
Julienne Strydom (Meyerton, South Africa) gave Calvin a strong start as she took sixth place in the long jump with a distance of 5.30 meters, a new top distance in the MIAA this season. Freshman
Dasha Mason (Graham, Wash./Graham Kapowsin) set a new personal record in her appearance in the long jump at 5.03 meters while
Emma Tubergen (Georgetown Township, Mich./Unity Christian) matched her personal record of 4.97 meters.Â

Caralee Schipper (Mount Brydges, Ontario/Strathroy District Collegiate Institute) (10.43 meters), freshman
Emily DeJonge (Renton, Wash./Bellevue Christian) (10.17 meters), and Tubergen (9.80 meters) all cracked the top ten when they took sixth place, eighth place, and tenth place, respectively.Â

Senior
Katie Seinen (Jension, Mich./Unity Christian) was the top finisher for the Knights in the high jump with a height of 3.12 meters while junior
Mikah Bazuin (Byron Center, Mich./Byron Center) set a new personal record in the weight throw with a distance of 13.87 meters, the second-best distance in the MIAA.

In the shot put, freshman
Ella Easterling (Norton, Ohio/Norton) matched her season best of 11.35 meters and claimed the top spot in the MIAA this season.

On the track, freshman
Ayla Holben (DeWitt, Mich./DeWitt) kicked off the day in the one mile where she set a new personal record with a time of 5:09.86, the second-best time in the MIAA this season. In the 400-meter, freshman Emmy Nordbeck (Livonia, Mich./Franklin) finished with the second fastest time in the MIAA at 1:00.26 while
Emma Wierenga (Grafton, Ma./Whitinsville Christian) recorded the second-best time in the MIAA in the 800 meter when she finished with a time of 2:20.49. Sophomore
Kennedi Wood (Comstock Park, Mich./Sparta) and freshman
Peyton Ludwig (Ada, Mich./Forest Hills Central) also cracked the top five in the MIAA in the 800 meter where they finished with times of 2:20.60 (3rd) and 2:22.60 (5th), respectively.

Calvin wrapped up their evening strong when senior
Sophie Bull (Denver, Colo./Denver Christian) notched a first-place finish in the 3000m with a time of 9:47.50, the top time in the MIAA and the second-best time in all of Division III this season.Â

UP NEXT: The Knights will be back in action tomorrow Saturday, January 24th when they travel to compete against Aurora University.
