AURORA, Ill. – The Calvin University men's golf team opened its 2025-26 season with the 36-hole AU Double Gun tournament hosted by Aurora University at Aurora Country Club on Tuesday.
Calvin finished the two-round tournament in eighth place (out of 19 teams) after scoring rounds of 301 and 309 on the day for a total score of 610 strokes.
Jack Marzolino (Byron Center, Mich./Byron Center) led the Knights over the two rounds with a score of 149 to tie for 16th place (out of 104 golfers). Marzolino shot 75 in his morning round before shooting 74 in the afternoon.
Matt Turcotte (Grandville, Mich./Calvin Christian) followed right behind Marzolino in a tie for 18th place with a total score of 150 after shooting two rounds of 75 on the day. Turcotte tied
Dylan Clark (Grand Rapids, Mich./Grand Rapids Christian) for the team lead with seven birdies on the day, with Clark finishing his two rounds in a total of 154 after scores of 78 and 76.
Sam Timmer (Keene, N.H./Keene) tied for 44th place after shooting two rounds of 78.
Josiah McClelland (Vicksburg, Mich./Vicksburg) shot Calvin's lowest round in the morning (74) before finishing with an 84 for a total of 158.
Ethan Tiller (Kalamazoo, Mich./Kalamazoo Christian) shot 77 and 85 for a total of 163.
Aurora's top team won the event with a three-under par score of 573, followed by UW-Stout with a total of 588 in second place.
