GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – The Calvin University men's track and field team secured both team and individual academic honors from the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) following the 2024-25 season.
Calvin men's track and field was named a USTFCCCA All-Academic Team, while seven individuals were named USTFCCCA All-Academic Athletes.
Corbin DeBoer (Hudsonville, Mich./Unity Christian),
Connor Lubberts (Jenison, Mich./Jenison),
Koby VanderWoude (Caledonia, Mich./Caledonia),
Luke Witvliet (Grandville, Mich./Calvin Christian)
Bob Horton (Rockford, Mich./Rockford HS),
Luke Nguyen (Houston, Texas Carl Wunsche Sr.) and
Benjamin Habers (Lake Ann, Mich. Traverse City West) were each named USTCCCA All-Academic Athletes.
To earn All-Academic Athlete honors, a student-athlete must have a 3.3 or higher grade point average (GPA) and meet one of the following athletic criteria:
- Must have finished the season among the top 50 individuals as listed on the descending order lists on TFRRS. In addition, any athletes not among the top 50, but who participated at the Indoor OR Outdoor National Championships, are eligible.
- Must have competed as a member of one of the top 35 relay teams as listed on the descending order list on TFRRS. In addition, any athletes not among the top 35 relay teams, but who participated in the relay at the Indoor OR Outdoor National Championships, are eligible. Finally, any competing relay team member on an expanded descending order list to include 35 institutions (1 relay team per institution) is eligible.
Earlier this month, Witvliet was also named a College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-American for his performance on the track and in the classroom.
The Calvin men's track and field team finished the school year with a 3.43 team GPA. To be eligible for All-Academic Team honors, a team must have a 3.1 GPA or higher.
