Members of the Calvin men's track and field team competed at a pair of last-chance meets on Friday and Saturday.

Matthew Toldy (Huron, Oh./Huron HS) competed in the hammer throw at the Len Paddock Invitational hosted by the University of Michigan. Toldy took 13
th in a field of Division I competitors with a throw of 159-6.
At the St. Francis Fighting Chance Invitational in Joliet, Illinois, Calvin produced a pair of sterling distance efforts. In the 3,000 meter steeplechase, senior
Eric Swinson (Fishers, Ind./Hamilton Southeastern HS) took first place with a career-best time of 9:03.28. The time was a new personal-best for Swinson by an 11-second margin. It places him 26
th on the NCAA III performance list.

Thaine Nederveld (Columbus, Oh./Columbus Alternative School) took second with a career-best time of 14:18.91. The time was a personal-best by a 20-second margin for Nederveld and places him 27
th on the NCAA III performance list.
On Saturday, sophomore Zach VanBaren (Hudsonville, Mich./Covenant Christian HS) had a big day in the 110 high hurdles. In the prelims, he just missed a career-best by clocking in with a time of 15.16. He followed with a career-best time of 15.05 in the finals that was good for sixth place individually.
In the 400 meter dash, sophomore
Mason Schimmel (Grand Rapids, Mich./Covenant Christian HS) took 12
th in a time of 51.22.
In the 400 meter hurdles, sophomore
Jarrett Febus (Hudsonville, Mich./Unity Christian HS) took 12
th in a time of 60.10.

Luke Nguyen (Houston, Tx./ Carl Wunsche Sr.) was fifth in the triple jump at 45-5 while sophomore
Connor Johnson (Kingsley, Mich./Kingsley HS) was 12
th at 41-8 ¾.
Calvin will now prepare for one more week of last-chance meet competition with selected Knights set to compete at the Augustana Last-Chance Invitational next weekend in Rock Island, Illinois.
