NORMAL, Ill. – The Calvin University men's golf team shaved 13 strokes off its Friday tally on a strong final day at the Illinois Wesleyan Invitational on Saturday at Weibring Golf Course.
Calvin entered the day tied for 23rd place after shooting a team score of 310 on Friday but moved up seven spots into a tie for 16th thanks to a 297 score on Saturday. The Knights also first among the three MIAA programs at the event.
Jackson Glanzer (Stevensville, Mich./Berrien Springs) shot a two-over par 73 on Saturday and finished the tournament as the top Calvin finisher in a tie for 28th place with a two-day score of 148.
Matt Turcotte (Grandville, Mich./Calvin Christian) shot up the leadboard into 96th place thanks to a Saturday 74. He finished the tournament at 155 for the two days.
Dylan Clark (Grand Rapids, Mich./Grand Rapids Christian) also shot 74 on the day for a two-day tally of 157, while
Jack Marzolino (Byron Center, Mich./Byron Center) finished 66th overall with a two-day total of 152 following Saturday's 76.
Ethan Tiller (Kalamazoo, Mich./Portage Central) shot 81 on Saturday for a total of 161.
Reuben Kok (Redlands, Calif./Arrowhead Christian Academy) shot 78 for a total score of 160.
Illinois Wesleyan won the event with a two-day total of 575 strokes. Aurora finished second at 582, followed by Saint John's (Minn.) on third at 583.
