GREENSBORO, NC – The Calvin men's swimming and diving team produduced one All-America swim on the opening day of competition at the NCAA III Championships. Senior
David Bajwa was fourth in the 50 freestyle.
Bajwa (Bethesda, Md. The Heights School) matched a career-best time in the morning prelims in the 50 freestyle, clocking in with a time of 19.69 that was good for fourth of the preliminary heats. He then swam 19.75 in the championship finals to again finish fourth. It marked his second consecutive All-America (top-eight) swim in the 50 freestyle after finishing seventh in the race a year ago.
In the morning prelims, senior
Josh Seidelman (Northville, Mich./Northville HS) competed in the 50 freestyle, placing 27
th (20.39) while junior
Timothy Hays (Arlington Heights, Il./Prospect HS) was 34
th in the 200 IM (1:50.17).
Calvin has a busy slate of action set for Saturday with Bajwa and Campbell set to race in the 100 butterfly and the quartet of Bajwa, Platt, Seidelman and senior
Corey Campbell (Grand Rapids, Mich./Grand Rapids Christian HS) set to race in the 200 freestyle relay.
