Calvin Men's Soccer Lands Four on All-MIAA Teams - Matt Torrell Named MIAA MVP

 Four members of the Calvin men's soccer team have received All-MIAA honors. The honor roll list is headlined by junior midfielder Matt Torrell who has been named the MIAA's Most Valuable Player. Torrell has also been named to the All-MIAA First Team and is joined on the first team from Calvin by senior Hans Pruis and sophomore Jake Ziolo. Freshman Will Lanham has been named to the All-MIAA Second Team.

MATT TORRELL (Rochester, NY/The Charles Finney School) – Torrell has made a big impact in his first year in a Calvin uniform. He transferred to Calvin from Liberty Unity last January and has proven to be a strong fit in the Calvin men's soccer program. Torrell has a team-leading 14 goals, seven assists and 35 points. In conference games, he was the MIAA scoring champion with 14 points on the strength of five goals and four assists. He was named MIAA Offensive Player of the Week once this fall. Torrell is the 23rd individual in Calvin men's soccer history to be named an MIAA Most Valuable Player. 

HANS PRUIS (Grand Rapids, Mich./Grand Rapids Christian HS) – An outside midfielder, Pruis is receiving All-MIAA honors for the first time. A speedy and dynamic player, Pruis has three goals, two assists and eight points this fall for the Knights. He finished tied for fifth in the MIAA in assists (2).

JAKE ZIOLO (Dublin, Oh./Dublin Jerome HS) – An outside back on defense, Ziolo is receiving First Team All-MIAA honors for the second straight year. A two-way player, Ziolo has helped Calvin post eight shutouts this fall. He has also notched three goals, three assists and nine points. All three of his goals have been game-winning goals this fall. He has been named MIAA Defensive Player of the Week once this fall.

JAKE LANHAM (Commerce, Twp./Pontiac Notre Dame Prep) – A forward, Lanham has had an explosive first year on the Calvin men's soccer team. He ranks second on the Calvin team in scoring with 18 points on the strength of nine goals. Three of his goals have been game winners. He has been named MIAA Offensive Player of the Week once. He s cored three goals in conference play and finished seventh in goals (3) and ninth in points (6).

The Calvin men's soccer team is currently 14-3-1 overall. The Knights will face Albion in the MIAA Tournament semifinals Wednesday night at 7 p.m. at Albion.
