Zac Moore Named MIAA Men’s Soccer Defensive Player of the Week

Calvin University senior keeper Zac Moore was named MIAA Defensive Player of the Week for men's soccer on Monday.

Moore (Pilesgrove, N.J./Woodstown/UMBC) won the honor for his performance in goal for the Knights during their run to win the MIAA Tournament Championship last week with wins at Albion College (4-1) and Hope College (2-0) to secure the MIAA's automatic qualifying bid into the NCAA III Men's Soccer Tournament.

In the win over Albion, Moore stopped a penalty kick in the first half for his lone save to help the Knights advance to the tournament final, where he stopped all three Hope shots on goal to record his sixth shutout of the season.

This year, Moore has started 18 games with a 14-3-1 record in goal. He has a 1.15 goals-against average and a .636 save percentage for the year.

Calvin men's soccer finished the regular season 16-3-1 and earned a bid into the NCAA III Men's Soccer Tournament. The Knights will open their tournament run on Friday, November 14, when it faces Grove City College in the first round at Hobart College. Hobart and Messiah University are the other two teams in the Knights' regional pod.
