Toby Simeoni was named MIAA Offensive Player of the Week for men's soccer on Monday.
Simeoni (Riverside, Australia/St. Patrick's College/University of Tasmania) earned the honor for his performance in helping the Knights to the MIAA Tournament Championship with wins at Albion College (4-1) and Hope College (2-0) last week.
In the two wins, Simeoni scored three goals that included the game-winning goal in both matches. After scoring once at Albion in the tournament semifinal, Simeoni scored both Calvin goals to push the Knights to a 2-0 win over top-seeded Hope in the final.
This season, Simeoni ranks third on the Knights with six goals, including five goals in his last five matches. Four of his five goals during that stretch have been game-winning goals.
Calvin men's soccer finished the regular season 16-3-1 and earned a bid into the NCAA III Men's Soccer Tournament. The Knights will open their tournament run on Friday, November 14, when it faces Grove City College in the first round at Hobart College. Hobart and Messiah University are the other two teams in the Knights' regional pod.
