ALMA, Mich. – The Calvin University men's golf team scored a season-low round on the way to a second-place finish at MIAA Jamboree #3 held at Pine River Country Club on Saturday.
 
The Knights shot a season-low score of 290 on the par-71 course and finished with five players in the top 10 in the final individual standings.
 
Jack Marzolino (Byron Center, Mich./Byron Center) finished second among all individuals thanks to a 1-under par 70. Marzolino carded two birdies and just one bogey on his round to lead the Knights.
 
Matt Turcotte (Grandville, Mich./Calvin Christian) was next to finish for Calvin in a tie for fifth place thanks to a 1-over par 73. Dylan Clark (Grand Rapids, Mich./Grand Rapids Christian) played as a wild card and didn't count towards the team score while shooting 73 thanks to five birdies on his card.
 
Ian Tuin (Kalamazoo, Mich./Kalamazoo Christian) and Ford Erickson (Grand Rapids, Mich./Grand Rapids Christian) each shot 3-over par 74 to tie for 10th place, while Ethan Tiller (Kalamazoo, Mich./Portage Central) shot 77 to tie for 25th place.
 
The Knights finished three strokes behind Trine University, whose winning score of 287 was aided by a 6-under par 65 by Garrett James. Hope College finished third with a 295 team score.
 
Halfway through the six MIAA events, Calvin sits in second place in the team standings just three strokes behind first-place Trine.
 
COACH'S COMMENT: "The team played hard today all the way through the lineup," head coach Brian Bolt said. "We're happy to have depth that allows us to stay within striking distance. Looking forward to competing at our home course in the next outing."
 
NEXT UP: Calvin men's golf will return to action on Monday, October 13, when the Knights host MIAA #4 at Watermark Country Club.
