Calvin University freshman Hudson Shoup was named MIAA Special Teams Player of the Week for football on Monday.
 
Shoup (Charlotte, N.C./Charlotte Latin) earned the honor for his play in a 34-31 win over Trine University on Saturday.
 
In the win that improved the Knights to 5-2 on the season and 2-2 in MIAA play, Shoup returned two kicks for 75 total yards (32.5 average) to help put the Knights in good field position.
 
This season, Shoup has returned 11 kicks for 260 total yards (23.6 average) and also has scored two offensive touchdowns in only three career touches on that side of the ball.
 
The Calvin football team will return to action on Saturday, November 1, when it hosts The University of Olivet at 1:00 PM at Calvin Soccer Stadium.
