Box Score 2 GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. - Today the Calvin men's volleyball played their first home matches of the season when they welcomed local competitors Davenport and Cornerstone for a double header.

MATCH 1
CALVIN 3, DAVENPORT 1

In the first match against Davenport the Knights got out to a hot start when they won the first set 25-21. Freshman
Bryce Broekhuizen (Kalamazoo, Mich./Kalamazoo Christian) led the attack for the Knights with three kills while freshman setter
Ezekiel Jalan (Oconomowoc, Wis./Arrowhead) contributed five assists. Calvin also posted a .158 hitting percentage, their highest of the match.

The Knights kept things rolling as they won the second set 25-23 before the Panthers answered in the third as they bettered Calvin 23-25.

In the fourth set the Knights quickly got the momentum back on their side as they went on a 8-2 run, causing Davenport to call an early timeout. However, the Panthers attempt to regroup did not shake Calvin as they went on to win the set 25-23 and pick up the 3-1 victory.

Sophomore
Nick Bultje (Byron Center, Mich./South Christian) finished the match as Calvin's leading attacker with 14 kills and an impressive .778 hitting percentage while freshman
Troy Jones (Sparta, Mich./Sparta) was close behind with 12 kills.

Gavin Barber (Lowell, Mich./Lowell) came off the bench and provided a boost with five kills while junior libero
Parker Steele (Boscobel, Wis./Boscal) finished the match with 20 digs.
MATCH 2
CALVIN 0, CORNERSTONE 3

In the second match of the evening the Knights fell in three straight sets to the Golden Eagles of Cornerstone with scores of 16-25, 20-25 and 23-25. The Knights best hitting percentage in the match came in the second set when they posted a .278.

Barber continued to shine as he led the way for Calvin with 7 kills while senior
Gabriel Laughlin (Grand Rapids, Mich./West Michigan Aviation Academy) was close behind with 5 kills and two blocks.

Sophomore
Cameron Dogger (Holland, Mich./Zion Christian) finished the match with 12 assists while Jones recorded a team high six digs.Â
