RESULTS
CLEVELAND, OH – The Calvin men's swimming and diving team opened second semester competition with a trip to Division I Cleveland State University Friday afternoon. The Knights were defeated in the dual meet 192-102 but had several strong performances in the meet.
Senior Will Goodpaster (Hamilton, Mich./Hamilton HS) took second place on both the one-meter (263.25) and three-meter (232.80) diving boards.

David Bajwa (Bethesda./The Heights School) cruised to a win in the 100 backstroke (50.05) while placing second in the 200 backstroke (1:53.32). Junior
Jacob Ziegler (Toledo, Oh./St. John's Jesuit) was fourth in the 200 backstroke (1:56.62).
In the 100 butterfly, senior
Logan Campbell (Yorkville, Il./Yorkville HS) took home a win (48.97) while freshman
Andrew Taulbee (Reynoldsburg, Oh./Reynoldsburg HS) was fourth (51.33). Campbell added a third place swim in the 100 backstroke (51.21).
Junior
Timothy Hays (Arlington, Il./Mt. Prospect HS) won the 200 butterfly (1:51.52) while placing second in the 200 IM (1:50.75).

Charles Platt (Downers Grove, Il./Downers Grove South HS) was second in the 200 freestyle (1:40.45) and 100 freestyle (45.65). Senior
Josh Seidelman (Northville, Mich./Northville HS) was second in the 50 freestyle (20.94) while graduate student
Vlad Molin (Rolling Meadows Il.//Rolling Meadows HS) took fifth (21.12). Molin also placed fourth in the 100 freestyle (46.83).
Junior
Caleb Gemmen (Mentor, Oh./Hone School) was third in the 200 breaststroke (2:05.04) and fourth in the 100 breaststroke (56.24).
Calvin went 2-3 in the 500 freestyle with sophomore
Ryan Halberg (Novi, Mich./Northville HS) placing second (4:48.30) and sophomore
Andrew Stimpert (Normal, Il./Normal HS) taking third (4:48.76). Halberg was also fourth in the 1000 freestyle (9:58.41). Molin, Seidelman and Platt placed second in a time of 3:03.28.
COACHES COMMENT: "We looked good against Division I competition tonight," said Calvin head swim coach
Dan Gelderloos. "We had some nice wins and some strong performances coming off a week of training in Florida. We have a really big day of competition ahead of us tomorrow and we are looking forward to the opportunity."
NEXT UP: The Knights will now turn their attention to a triangular dual meet at Denison University that will also include Carnegie Mellon. All three teams are nationally-ranked in Division III with Denison ranked second, Carnegie Mellon ranked eighth and Calvin ranked ninth. The competition is slated to start at 1 p.m. on Saturday in Granville, Ohio. Â
