WEST OLIVE, Mich. – The Calvin men's golf team had an up-and-down on Monday, placing fourth at MIAA Jamboree #3 hosted by Hope College at the Wuskowhan Player's Club.
Calvin fired a team score of 294 strokes. The Knights moved into second place in the team standings during the afternoon before falling back over the final few holes on the sun-swept afternoon.
Freshman
Dylan Clark (Grand Rapids, Mich./Grand Rapids Christian HS) led Calvin's team scoring with a 71, finishing one-under par and in eighth place in the individual standings.
Fifth-year senior
Jackson Glanzer (Stevensville, Mich./Berrien Spring HS) finished one-over par with a round of 73, placing tied for 12
th individually. Sophomore
Ethan Tiller (Kalamazoo, Mich./Portage Central HS) was close behind with a two-over par round of 74 that was good for a tie for 16
th place individually.
Juniors
Matt Turcotte (Grandville, Mich./Calvin Christian HS) and Jack Marzalino (Byron Center, Mich./Byron Center HS) had rounds of 76.
Competing individually but not factoring in the team scoring was sophomore
Greg Braun (Northville, Mich./Northville HS) who carded a three-under par round of 69.
Hope took first place in the team standings on Monday with a team score of 282 with Trine second (286) and Adrian third (290).
Calvin remains in third place in the overall team standings behind Hope and Trine.
COACHES COMMENT: "We had some moments where we saw some good things today but overall, the consistency just wasn't there to finish higher than we did," said Calvin head men's golf coach
Brian Bolt. "We have to continue to work on cleaning up errant shots and strive for consistency."
NEXT UP: Calvin returns to action on October 12 when it competes at an MIAA Jamboree hosted by Adrian at the Tecumseh Golf Club.
