Box Score GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. - Today the Calvin University women's tennis team matched up with the Lakers of Roosevelt University where they showed their dominance in the 6-1 victory.
 
Calvin's doubles number-one team of Marina Ribeiro (Santos Sal Paolo, Brazil/Santa Cecilia) and Ryan Morey (Grand Rapids, Mich./Forest Hills Northern) gave the Knights a great start when they won their match 6-4. Tessa Holman (Washington, Mich./Romeo) and Catherine Grissom (Indianapolis, Ind./North Central) kept things rolling with a 6-4 win in number-three doubles to secure the point for Calvin despite Roosevelt winning the number-two match.
 
In singles play, Ribeiro was the first to finish as she picked up a win (6-1, 6-2) in the number-two match before Catherine Grissom emerged victorious (6-2, 6-3) in the number-four match. Number-one singles competitor Holman came up big as she won her match in a tie-breaker in the third set (6-2, 4-6, 10-8). 
 
Freshman Ana Clara Ornellas (Londrina, Brazil/Colegio Saber) (6-3, 6-3) and senior Maggie Shoemaker (Holland, Mich./Holland Christian) (6-2, 6-2) also picked up wins during singles play as the Knights rolled to a 6-1 victory over the Lakers.
