ANGOLA, Ind. – The Calvin University men's golf team finished the opening round of MIAA play in fourth place at Zollner Golf Course on Tuesday.

The Knights finished MIAA Jamboree #1 with a team score of 300 overall, trailing Trine (284), Hope (285) and Albion (299) in the top three.

Five Calvin players finished with rounds of 77 or lower on the day, but scores were low at the top of the field with three players carding round of four-under par 67.

Jack Marzolino (Byron Center, Mich./Byron Center) was the top finisher for the Knights with a two-over par 73 to tie for 10th place, followed by
Matt Turcotte (Grandville, Mich./Calvin Christian) in a tie for 12th place with a 74.

Ethan Tiller (Kalamazoo, Mich./Portage Central) shot 76 to tie for 19th.
Jackson Glanzer (Stevensville, Mich./Berrien Springs) birdied four of his first five holes on the day before finishing with a 77 to tie for 24th.

Greg Braun (Northville, Mich./Northville) shot 76 to tie for 19th playing individually.
Dylan Clark (Grand Rapids, Mich./Grand Rapids Christian) carded an 82.

Brian Bolt said. "It's the beginning of the season, and we will focus on getting better each day."

NEXT UP: Calvin men's golf will return to action on Friday, September 13, when it plays in the two-day Irish Hills Invite at Tecumseh Golf Course. Players are scheduled to tee off at 1:00 PM.
