Four Calvin University women's lacrosse players received Academic All-District honors from the College Sports Communicators on Tuesday.
Morgan Bethard (DeWitt, Mich./DeWitt),
Kelly Ruha (New Hope, Mich./Robbinsville Armstrong),
Katie Winkle (Grand Rapids, Mich./Grand Rapids Christian) and
Molly Williams (Grand Haven, Mich./Grand Haven) each took home the honor.
In order to qualify for nomination for Academic All-District, student-athletes must meet the following qualifications:
- Sophomore athletically or higher
- 3.50 cumulative grade point average (GPA) or higher
- Been enrolled at the institution for at least one calendar year
- Starter or key reserve
- Played at least 50 percent of their team's games in the 2023 season.
Morgan Bethard
Bethard tied for second on the Knights in points (44) and finished third in goals (33) in a strong sophomore season. She also notched two game-winning goals on the season.
A kinesiology (sports management) major with a 3.605 cumulative GPA, Bethard is a four-time Calvin Dean's List and one-time MIAA Academic Honor Roll honoree.
Kelly Ruha
Ruha played in all 17 games for the Knights during her senior season and finished fourth on the team with 28 goals while leading the team with 90 total shots.
Ruha graduated in May with a degree in secondary education (English) with a 3.905 GPA. She is an eight-time Calvin Dean's List and three-time MIAA Academic Honor Roll honoree.
Katie Winkle
Winkle started all 17 games on defense for the Knights and finished third on the team in caused turnovers (20) and added 26 ground balls.
A human resources management major with a 3.825 GPA, Winkle is a six-time Calvin Dean's List and two-time MIAA Academic Honor Roll honoree.
Molly Williams
Williams played in 12 games for the Knights during her sophomore season, finishing with one assist, 11 ground balls and 11 caused turnovers.
A marketing major with a 3.821 GPA, Williams is a four-time Calvin Dean's List and one-time MIAA Academic Honor Roll honoree.
