GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – The 11th-ranked Calvin University men's swimming and diving team swept each of the races at the MIAA Relay event at Venema Aquatic Center on Friday night.
The Knights finished with the top team in all nine events and took home at least the top two places in eight races.
The night started with the 200 Medley Relay, where the team of
Ryan Halberg (Novi, Mich./Northville),
Anthony Crudele (Aurora, Ill./Homeschool), Andew Taulbee (Reynoldsburg, Ohio/Reynoldsburg) and
Josh Seidelman (Northville, Mich./Northville) finished in a winning-time of 1:35.44. The Knights also took second, third, fourth and sixth in the race.
In the 200 Backstroke Relay, Calvin's top team of
Logan Campbell (Yorkville, Ill./Yorkville),
Corey Campbell (Kentwood, Mich./Grand Rapids Christian),
Timothy Hays (Arlington Heights, Ill./Prospect) and
Charles Platt (Downers Grove, Ill./Downers Grove North) finished first in a time of 1:32.98, while other Calvin teams finished in second and fifth.
The team of
David Bajwa (Bethesda, Md./The Heights School), Taulbee,
Caleb Gemmen (Mentor, Ohio/Homeschool) and Hays won the 200 Backstroke Relay with a time of 1:47.77, with a second Calvin group taking second place.
The Knights also won the 500 Progressive Freestyle Relay, as the team of
Corey Campbell,
Vlad Molin (Mount Prospect, Ill./Rolling Meadows), Seidelman and Platt finished in a time of 4:13.78. Calvin also had the second, third, fourth and sixth-place teams.
The 200 Butterfly Relay team of Hays,
Logan Campbell, Molin and Bajwa took first in 1:31.9, followed in second, third and sixth by other Calvin relays.
In 200 Mixed Medley Relay, Bajwa and Gemmen teamed with Maggie Farrell (Kalamazoo, Mich./Portage Central) and Sydney Sonday (Portage, Mich./Portage Central) from the women's team to win in a time of 1:39.43. Calvin also had teams place third, fourth, fifth and sixth, respectively.
The 3x500 Freestyle Relay was won by the trio of
Diego Herrera Mora (Liberty Hill, Texas/CTP de Belen), Halberg and Seidelman in a time of 14:46.51. The Knights also had the second-place team in that event.
In a pair of traditional relays to close the meet, the Knights won the 400 Medley and the 200 Freestyle relays. The team of Bajwa, Taulbee, Gemmen and Hays took the 400 Medley in 3:34.15. Molin, Seidelman,
Corey Campbell and Platt won the 200 Freestyle in 1:24.55.

NEXT UP: Calvin swimming and diving will return to action on Friday, October 25, when it hosts Albion College and Kalamazoo College in a triangular meet at Venema Aquatic Center at 5:00 PM.
