Box Score GRAND RAPIDS, Mich.- Today, the Calvin women's tennis team welcomed the Olivet Comets to campus. The Knights were able to jump on the Comets early and remain in control throughout the evening as they went on to win 9-0.
 
The Knights;' first points of the day came when the No. 2 doubles team of 
Julia Hooker (East Grand Rapids, Mich./East Grand Rapids) and 
Sarah McCormick (Grand Blanc, Mich./Grand Blanc) won its match 8-0. The No. 3 doubles match was the next to conclude as sophomore 
Delanie Minnema (East Grand Rapids, Mich./Northpointe) and freshman 
Riley Johnston (Grand Blanc, Mich./Grand Blanc) also won 8-0. 
Marissa Baker (Holland, Mich./Holland Christian) and 
Sophie Mulder (Holland, Mich./Holland Christian) finished the No. 1 doubles match by winning 8-1 to give the Knights a 3-0 lead.
 
In the number one singles match Baker won by beating Olivet's Kennedy Karns 6-1 and 6-2. Minnema was able to beat her opponent 6-0 and 6-1 in the number two singles match while Hooker won 6-0 and 6-0 in the number three singles match. The dominance continued into the number four singles match as Johnston won 6-0 and 6-0 and the number five singles match which McCormick also won with a score of 6-0 and 6-0. Mulder rounded out the scoring for the Knights when she won the number six singles match 6-0 and 6-0 to give Calvin the 9-0 victory over Olivet.
 
COACHES COMMENTS: "I'm happy with today's performance," says Calvin head coach 
John Ross. "It was great to get players in our lineup today that sometimes don't get a chance to play in matches but always work hard in practice."
 
UP NEXT: The Knights will be back on the court on Tuesday, April 4
th when they travel to Hope to take on the Dutch at 4 p.m.
