Men's Golf Plays Final Tune Up at AC Eddy Invitational

ANGOLA, Ind. - The Calvin University men's golf team finished in a tie for fourth place at the AC Eddy Invitational hosted by Trine University at Zollner Golf Course on Tuesday.

The Knights were looking for one final tune up before this weekend's final two rounds of the MIAA AQ Tournament, and finished the day with a total team score of 307 strokes.

Tim Braun (Northville, Mich./Northville) and Jack Marzolino (Bryon Center, Mich./Byron Center) carded matching round of 76 to lead the Calvin players at the event, tying them for 11th place among all players. 

Luke Weesies (Grandville, Mich./Calvin Christian) shot 78, while Matt Turcotte Grandville, Mich./Calvin Christian) and Gannon McDonough (Pentwater, Mich./Pentwater) shot 79 and 80, respectively.

Trine took first place at the event with a final team score of 290, followed by Adrian (297) and Hope (306).

COACH'S COMMENT: "We battled today, but didn't have much to show for our efforts," Calvin head men's golf coach Brian Bolt said. "We are glad we got the opportunity to compete at Zollner GC to get us more prepared for the final rounds of the AQ this weekend."

NEXT UP: Calvin men's golf will return to action on Friday, April 21, when it plays in the second round of the MIAA AQ Tournament at Wuskowhan Players Club. Friday marks the second of three rounds, with the Knights currently in fourth place following an opening-round score of 307 on Saturday, April 15, at Glendarin Hills Golf Club.
