RESULTS
ADRIAN, Mich. – The Calvin men's track and field team competed at the Don Kleinow Invitational on Friday at Siena Heights University. Calvin came up with several standout performances.
Sophomore
Thaine Nederveld (Columbus, Oh./Columbus Alternative School) won the 1500 meters with a career-best time of 3:54.40 while placing seventh in the 800 meters with a career-best time of 1:56.12. The time by Nederveld in the 1500 meters is the top time in the MIAA. Sophomore
Nicholas Henz (Oswego, Il./Oswego HS) took sixth in the 1500 meters with a time of 3:58.52.
Sophomore Koby VanderWoude (Caledonia, Mich./Caledonia HS) took seventh in the 400 meters with a season-best time of 49.76.
Calvin took five of the top eight spots in the 5K with sophomore
Ryan Sarkett (Pittsburgh, Pa./Upper St. Clair HS) taking second in 15:41.33, senior
Thomas Noble (Lakewood, Colo./Denver Christian HS) placing third (15:43.46), junior Ben Kinnucan (Lowell, Mich./Lowell HS) placing fourth (15:43.99), senior
Derek Sall (Grandville, Mich./Calvin Christian HS) taking sixth (15:46.82) and sophomore
Trent Sivils (Chesapeake, Va./Stonebridge School) taking eighth (15:47.22).
In the men's 10K, senior
Clenon Fincher (Elmhurst, Il./Timothy Christian HS) took seventh (33:53.91).
The Knights had a good day in the throws. Senior
Isaac Jonker (Denver, Co./Denver Christian HS) took fourth in the hammer throw (166-2/50.66 meters) while senior
Misael Martinez Vasquez (Grandville, Mich./Calvin Christian HS) was sixth with a career-best throw of 155-11 (47.52 meters).
In the javelin, senior
John White (Midland, Mich./Midland HS) took third with a career-best throw of 160-3 (48.84 meters) while freshman
Colin Jambekar (Grosse Pointe Woods, Mich./Grosse Pointe North HS) was seventh with a career-best throw of 142-4 (43.39 meters).
NEXT UP: Calvin returns to action on Friday and Saturday next weekend, competing in an invitational hosted by Grand Valley State.
