KALAMAZOO, Mich. - The Calvin University men's golf team finished sixth at the Steven Tyler Memorial tournament hosted by Kalamazoo College at the The Moors Golf Club on Monday.

The Knights finished sixth out of nine teams at the event with a final team score of 323 strokes, which was just five strokes off third-place Kalamazoo (318).

Luke Weesies (Grandville, Mich./Calvin Christian) was the top Calvin individual finisher on the day with a round of 75, good for a tie for fourth place on the final leaderboard.

Matt Turcotte (Grandville, Mich./Calvin Christian) followed Weesies with an 81, while Louis Breems (Grand Rapids, Mich./Grand Rapids Christian) carded an 82.

Keegan Hall (Hudsonville, Mich./Hudsonville) and Cade VandenBosch (Holland, Mich./Holland Christian) finished the Calvin team scoring with rounds of 85 and 90, respectively.

Trine won the event with a team score of 305 strokes.

COACH'S COMMENT: "It was a great chance to get our B squad an opportunity to compete," Calvin head men's golf coach Brian Bolt said. "In his first real college tourney, Luke Weesies carded a 75, good for a top five individual finish. Luke has been practicing well, so it was good for him to get this result. Everyone battled hard today and helped our team take a step forward."

NEXT UP: Calvin men's golf will return to action on Saturday, April 15, when it plays in the MIAA AQ tournament hosted by Trine University at Glendarin HIlls GC.
