GRAND RAPIDS - The Calvin University women's tennis team returned to action with a 9-0 win over Grace Christian on Monday night at the Huizenga Tennis and Track Center. 
The match started with the Knights sweeping all three doubles contests. The number-one team of 
Marissa Baker (Holland, Mich./Holland Christian) and 
Julia Hooker (East Grand Rapids, Mich./East Grand Rapids) won 8-0, as did the number-three team of 
Delanie Minnema (East Grand Rapids, Mich./Northpointe) and 
Riley Johnston (Grand Blanc, Mich./Grand Blanc). The number-two team of 
Sophie Mulder (Holland, Mich./Holland Christian) and 
Sarah McCormick (Grand Blanc, Mich./Grand Blanc) won 8-1.
In singles, Baker, Minnema, Hooker, Mulder and McCormick each won in straight sets, while Johnston won her number-three match in three sets by the scores of 6-4, 3-6, 1-0.
Calvin improved to 7-2 on the season with the win. Grace Christian fell to 1-1 in defeat.
COACH'S COMMENT: "It was good to get back out there and play against an improving Grace Christian program," Calvin head tennis coach 
John Ross said. "We're happy to come away with a win and look forward to continue building towards our conference season that starts next week."
NEXT UP: Calvin women's tennis returns to action on Saturday, March 18, when it plays at Bethel (Ind.) in a match scheduled to start at 12:00 PM.
