ALLENDALE, Mich. – The Calvin men's track and field team worked one final event before next week's MIAA Indoor Championships on Friday at the GVSU Tune-Up hosted by Grand Valley State University.
The event featured mainly NCAA Division II competition for a small group of Calvin student-athletes, with he Knights taking home several top five finishes.
*The top finish of the day came from
Ethan VanWoerkom (Denver, Colo./Denver Christian), who finished second in the triple jump with a top mark of 11.46 meters.

Misael Martinez Vasquez (Chicago, Ill./Chicago Hope Academy) and
James Viel (Holland, Mich./Holland Christian) finished fifth and sixth, respectively, in the weight throw. Martinez Vasquez's top throw was 14.89 meters, while Viel's top attempt was 13.19 meters.
*The top Calvin finish on the track came from
Jacob Buit (Hudsonville, Mich./Unity Christian) in seventh place in the one mile with a time of 4:25.83.
Aaron Jahn (Shelby Township, Mich./Utica) also competed in the event and finished in 20
th place.

Hayden Verhill (Pittsburgh, Pa./Trinity Christian) took eighth in the 800 meters in a time of 1:59.6.
Kevin Gee (Chicago, Ill./Mather) took 11
th place, while
Brady Vroom (Cedar Lake, Ind./Illiana Christian) and
Andrew Huyser (Grand Rapids, Mich./Grand Rapids Christian) finished 12
th and 15
th, respectively.
*Landen Culver (Holland, Mich./Holland Christian) finished 11
th in the 400 meters in a time of 53.42, while
Thomas Noble (Lakewood, Colo./Denver Christian) finished 13
th in the 3000 meters in a time of 9:11.39.
COACH'S COMMENT: "This was our final meet prior to the MIAA indoor championships and as the meet name would suggest it was a great tune up! We brought a smaller group with us today but still had some big performances," Calvin head track and field coach Adam Haldorson said. "The biggest performance of the day would go to Natalie Tebban had a huge PR in the 800m and is now ranked 42
nd in the country while also leading the MIAA standings!
This team has been putting in the work and they are ready to go for conference, next weekend is going to be fun!"
