WEST DUNDEE, Ill. - The Calvin men's golf team shaved 12 strokes off their day one total on the second and final day of the Carthage Fall Classic on Saturday at Randall Oaks Golf Club.
The Knights shot a team score of 306 strokes on Saturday, improving by 12 strokes from Friday's round of 318. Calvin jumped from 15th place to 12th place on the day after the improved score.
Jack Marzolino (Byron Center, Mich./Byron Center) matched his opening round 78 for a total score of 156 to finish atop the Knights' line-up in a tie for 56th place overall at the event.
Gannon McDonough (Pentwater, Mich./Pentwater) improved one stroke with a 78 on Saturday for a total of 157, while
Tim Braun (Northville, Mich./Northville) and
Jacob Siebenga (Surrey, B.C./Surrey Christian) each shot 75 in the final round to finish with two-day totals of 158 and 160, respectively.
Matt Turcotte (Grandville, Mich./Calvin Christian) rounded out the Calvin five with an 82 on Saturday for a tournament total of 160.
Illinois Wesleyan won the team side of the tournament with a two-day total of 554 strokes, followed by Aurora (567) and Hope (576) in the top three.
