Box Score CHICAGO, Il. – Calvin suffered its first defeat of the year on Saturday, falling at North Park College 6-3 in a non-conference dual match.
North Park took control of the match by winning all three doubles points including an 8-7 win at No. 3 doubles as the Calvin tandem of sophomore 
Marissa Baker (Holland, Mich./Holland Christian HS) and Lexy Ganop (Riverview, Mich./Riverview Community HS) fought hard before falling 8-6 in the tiebreaker.
Calvin split the six singles points.
Singles victories for the Knights came at No. 4, No. 5 and No. 6 singles.
Sophomore 
Maggie Shoemaker (Holland, Mich./Holland Christian HS) was a 6-3, 6-3 winner over Marie Fuehrer at No. 4 singles.
Freshman 
Tessa Holman (Washington, Mich./Romeo HS) downed Nina Kisin 6-1, 6-0 at No. 5 singles.
Freshman 
Elise Norman (Battle Creek, Mich./Lakeview HS) defeated Maddie Starr 6-1, 6-1 at No. 6 singles.
COACHES COMMENT: "We ran into a tough team today on the road with some really strong players at the top of their lineup," said Calvin head tennis coach 
John Ross. "It was a great weekend for us to get to know each other and we spent time Friday in Milwaukee bonding after our match at Wisconsin-Lutheran. We are looking forward to facing Cornerstone and competing in the Hope Invitational next week."
