Calvin Women's Tennis Clipped by Kalamazoo in MIAA Tournament Semifinals

KALAMAZOO, Mich. – The Calvin women's tennis team saw its season come to an end with a 5-1 loss to Kalamazoo College in the MIAA Tournament semifinals Thursday afternoon.

The Knights finish the season with an overall record of 16-3. The 16 victories are the highest by a Calvin team since 2010 when the Knights went 19-4 on the season.

Kalamazoo (10-10 overall) took the three doubles points including a come-from-behind 8-5 win over senior Emily Schelleboom (Grand Rapids, Mich./Grand Rapids Christian HS) and freshman Catherine Grissom (Indianapolis, Ind./North Central HS) at No. 1 singles.

Grissom picked up Calvin's lone point in the match, defeating Ella Knight 6-2, 6-3 at No. 4 singles.

COACHES COMMENT: "I'm super proud of this team," said Calvin head tennis coach John Ross. "We had a really solid season which will be a building block for the future. We ran into a really good Kalamazoo team today."
