ANGOLA, Ind. - Calvin women's lacrosse fell short in a hard-fought conference contest against Trine in overtime with a final score of 14-13 on Saturday afternoon. 

The first quarter of action quickly started with the Knights jumping out to a 2-0 lead after goals by juniors Lainey Aldridge (Grosse Pointe Woods, MI / Grosse Pointe North) and Mekaelah McClymont (Camp Hill, PA / Covenant Christian Academy). Trine answered by tying the game at 2-2 later in the quarter. 

Both teams scored two more goals before the end of the quarter to tie it at 4-4 with Calvin's goals coming from senior Madison Brown (Granger, IN / Penn) and sophomore Kelly Ruha (Plymouth, MN / Robbinsville Armstrong). 

In the second quarter, The Thunder outscored the Knights 4-1 with senior Megan Gilbert (Lansing, MI / Holt) scoring the only goal for Calvin. Trine took an 8-5 lead over Calvin going into halftime. 

The Knights started to gain some momentum in the third as they outscored the Thunder 4-3 to only trail 11-9 into the fourth. Calvin continued to put the pressure on Trine by scoring three straight goals to lead 12-11 with 6:32 left in the game. Senior Breanna Otte (Grand Rapids, MI / Grand Rapids Christian) scored two while Gilbert added another to help give the Knights the lead. 

Trine tied the game at 12-12, but the Knights came right back with a goal from Ruha to take the lead again with a score of 13-12. However, the Thunder tied the game up at 13-13 with 43 seconds left in the game to send it into overtime. 

Calvin couldn't put a together a game winning goal, and Trine put one in the net as it slowly rolled over the line with just one second left in overtime to end the game. 

Calvin goes to 4-6 overall on the season and 1-1 in the MIAA. 

Gilbert and Ruha both finished the game with 3 goals while McClymont, Otte and Brown each had two goals. Gilbert amassed three draw controls. 

Junior Jessica Camp (O'Fallon, IL / O'Fallon Township High School) ended the afternoon with 17 saves for the Knights.
