GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – Calvin improved to 13-2 overall and to 3-2 in the MIAA with a 9-0 conference win over Olivet Saturday afternoon inside the Huizenga Tennis and Track Center.
Calvin opened by sweeping the three doubles points.
Senior Emily Schellenboom (Grand Rapids, Mich./Grand Rapids Christian HS) and freshman Catherine Grissom (Indianapolis, Ind./North Central HS) teamed up for an 8-1 win at No. 1 doubles.
Senior Sara Kroeze (Holland, Mich./Holland Christian HS) and junior Cameron Cyrus (Naperville, Il./Neuqua Valley HS) claimed an 8-0 win at No. 2 doubles.
Freshman Marissa Baker (Holland, Mich./Holland Christian HS) and freshman Sarah McCormick (Grand Blanc, Mich./Grand Blanc HS) were 8-2 winners at No. 3 doubles.
In singles play, Schellenboom rumbled through a 6-0, 6-0 win at No. 1 singles over Makenzie Borg.
Senior Grace Brown (Middleville, Mich./Thornapple Kellogg HS) won 6-0, 6-0 against Ally Sears at No. 2 singles.
Freshman Maggie Shoemaker (Holland, Mich./Holland Christian HS) picked up a 6-1, 6-0 win over Jill Arends at No. 3 singles.
Grissom cruised to a 6-2, 6-1 win over Kennedy Karns at No. 4 singles.
Freshman Igne Savickas (Ann Arbor, Mich./Father Gabriel HS) won 6-0, 6-0 at No. 5 singles against Alyssa Davis.
McCormick then won 6-0, 6-2 against Jenna Otten at No. 6 singles.
