Box Score BEREA, Oh. - Calvin dropped a 16-10 decision at Baldwin-Wallace University Saturday afternoon.
The Knights fall to 2-4 on the year.
Calvin jumped out to a 5-2 lead and led 5-3 after one quarter of play. Sophomore Kelly Ruha (Plymouth, Mn./Robbinsville Armstrong) had two of Calvin's opening five goals.
The host Yellow Jackets (2-4) outscored Calvin 4-1 in the second quarter however to take a 7-6 advantage at halftime.
Ruha scored Calvin's lone second quarter goal, firing in a shot with 50 seconds left in the half.
Calvin tied the game 7-7 on a goal by senior Megan Gilbert (Lansing, Mich./Holt HS) with 6:43 left in the third quarter. Baldwin-Wallace answered with four goals over the final 4:25 of the quarter to take an 11-7 lead.
The Yellow Jackets then scored five of the opening six goals of the fourth quarter to put the game out of reach.
Gilbert led Calvin in scoring with four goals to go with five ground balls.
Ruha had three goals and three ground balls.
Senior Brenna Otte (Grand Rapids, Mich./Grand Rapids Christian HS) came up with two goals and a ground ball.
Gilbert was credited with a team-high eight draw controls. Senior Madison Brown (Granger, Ind./Penn HS) had a goal and caused three Baldwin-Wallace turnovers.
Junior Jessica Camp (O'Fallon Il./O'Fallon Township High School) tallied eight saves.
