ALLENDALE, Mich. – The Calvin women's indoor track and field team had big set of performances on day one of the GVSU Big Meet at the Kelly Family Sports Center.

Senior Sadie Heeringa (Grand Rapids, Mich./Grand Rapids Christian HS) led the way by breaking the Calvin women's indoor record in the mile run, clocking in with a time of 4:50.76, breaking the previous record of 4:52.16 set by Katie Diekema in 2019. The record was the second of the winter for Heeringa who shattered the school mark in the women's 3,000 meters two weeks ago with a time of 9:41.32.

Heeringa took fifth overall in the mile run on Friday, finishing behind one Division II runner and three Division I runners. Her time currently ranks fifth on the Division III women's indoor track and field qualifying list in the mile run.

Sophomore Delaney Sall (Grand Rapids, Mich./Grand Rapids Christian HS) ran well in the 800 meters, recording a time of 2:14.38.

In the 3,000 meters, sophomore Jenna Allman (Ann Arbor, Mich./Saline HS) posted a time of 10:24.52.

In the 5,000 meter run, senior Brynne Winiarski (Naperville, Il./Neuqua Valley HS) recorded a career-best time of 18:53.40. Junior Sienna Ruiter-Diaz (Canton, Mich./Plymouth Christian Academy) was right behind in 18:54.50 while senior Haley Weesies (Grand Rapids, Mich./Calvin Christian HS) came across the line in a time of 19.37.47.

Action continues on Saturday on day two of the GVSU Big Meet.
