Calvin University freshman center Jalen Overway was named to the D3hoops.com Men's Basketball Team of the Week on Tuesday following his spectacular first week of the season.

Overway (Holland, Mich./Holland Christian) averaged 27.0 points, 11.7 rebounds, 2.7 assists and 1.7 blocks per game while shooting 66.7 percent from the field and 83.3 percent from the free throw line to lead the Knights to a 3-0 record.

Overway started the season with a 23-point, 15-rebound effort in only 24 minutes as Calvin defeated Grace Christian 93-53 on November 8.

The next challenge would be more difficult against third-ranked UW-Oshkosh on Friday, November 11, but Overway was up to the task with 34 points (15-20 shooting overall, 2-3 three-point field goals) and 11 rebounds in a 59-56 upset win for the Knights.

The next day, Overway finished with 24 points, nine rebounds and four assists as the Knights completed the opening-week sweep with a 76-63 win over UW-Stout.

This is the second award for Overway already in his young career, as he was previously named MIAA Men's Basketball Player of the Week on Monday, November 14.

Overway and the Knights will return to action on Wednesday, November 16, when they travel to Illinois Tech.
