GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – The Calvin men's swimming and diving team produced a dominating and record-setting evening Friday night at the MIAA Relays, held inside the Venema Aquatic Center.
Calvin took first place in 12 events, setting meet records in nearly every race.
Calvin opened the meet by winning the 200 medley relay in a time of 1:31.89. The relay included senior
Noah Holstege (Keswick, Va./Covenant School), freshman
Caleb Gemmen (Mentor, Oh./Home School), junior
Forrest Peterson (Middleton, Wisc./Middleton HS) and senior
Jacob Heeres (Zeeland, Mich./Holland Christian HS). The winning time was a new meet record and surpassed the previous record of 1:34.66. It also ranks third on the NCAA III performance list.

Timothy Hays (Arlington Heights, Il./Prospect HS), junior
Corey Campbell (Grand Rapids, Mich./Grand Rapids Christian HS) Holstege and sophomore
David Bajwa (Potomac, Md./The Heights School) won in a meet-record time of 1:33.72, blitzing the previous record of 1:36.00.
In the 200 breaststroke relay, the Calvin team of Gemmen, senior
Bryce Miner (Cupertino, Ca./Homestead HS), sophomore
Anthony Crudele (Aurora, Il./Home School) and Heeres splashed home to a winning and meet-record time of 1:48.54, breaking the previous meet record of 1:49.29.
In the 500 progressive relay, the Calvin team of Holstege, Peterson, Hays and Heeres won in a time of 4:12.41.
Calvin's 200 butterfly relay of Hays, junior
Austin Martinson (Aurora, Il./Metea Valley HS), Campbell and Peterson won in a meet-record tie of 1:32.45, eclipsing the previous mark of 1:32.78.
In the 100 backstroke relay, the Calvin team of Hays, Holstege, freshman
Ryan Meyer (Portage, Mich./Portage Central HS) and Campbell took first in a meet-record time of 42.66, breaking the previous record of 43.93.
Calvin's 100 breaststroke relay of Gemmen, Crudele, Miner and Heeres won in a meet-record time of 47.52, shattering the previous record of 49.76.
Another Calvin win came in the 100 butterfly relay as Campbell, Hays, Peterson and Martinson won in a time of 40.75.
Calvin's 100 freestyle relay team of Peterson, junior
Vladimir Molin (Rolling Meadows, Il./Rolling Meadows HS), Holstege and Heeres won in a meet-record time of 37.46, breaking the previous record of 38.15.
In the 1500 relay, Bajwa, senior
Samuel Hoover (Beverly Hills, Mich./Fraser HS) and sophomore
Joshua Seidelman (Northville, Mich./Northville HS) won in a time of 15:01.13.
Calvin's 400 IM medley relay of Bajwa, senior
Caleb Terschak (Wildwood, Mo./Westminster Christian Academy), Meyer and Hays won in a meet-record time of 3:38.14, breaking the previous record of 3:39.85.
The final win of the night from Calvin came in the 200 freestyle/IM relay as Heeres, Holstege, Molin and Peterson cruised to a win in a time of 1:23.30.

Dan Gelderloos. "Our men were very focused and they have been that way throughout the preseason, soaking up instruction and working hard. Their hard work was on display tonight and I am very happy with how this group is progressing."
NEXT UP: Calvin will host the Be Better; Invitational on Saturday at 11 a.m. with teams from Davenport, Hope and the University of Michigan joining Calvin in the pool.
