The Calvin baseball program has announced its 2022-23 freshmen class.

2022-2023 CALVIN BASEBALL FRESHMEN CLASS 

*Connor Comiskey is a right-handed pitcher from Lutheran North High School, Macomb, Michigan.  Connor is an intense competitor who had a solid fall ball season on the mound.   

*Alex DeAngelis is a right-handed pitcher from Salem High School, Canton, Michigan.  Alex has a good understanding of pitching and has excellent movement on both his off speed and fast ball.  

*Ben Ferguson is a left-handed pitcher from nearby Grandville High School, Grandville, Michigan. Ben has been slowed by injuries but has an outstanding arm, and we are eager to see his progress this off season. 

*Patrick Gillen is from Jensen Beach High School, Jensen Beach, Florida and is an infielder. Patrick is a good hitter with great instincts on the infield. 

*Logan Nelson is a catcher from Fremont High School, Fremont, Michigan.  Logan was an outstanding 3-sport high school athlete and has been a quick study in learning and growing as a college catcher. 

*Alex Owen is a left-handed pitcher and outfielder from St Johns High School, St Johns, Michigan.  Alex possesses a firm fastball on the mound and has shown some pop at the plate this fall. 

*Zach Pedzinski is a right-handed pitcher from Concord High School, Elkhart, Indiana.  Zach has worked extremely hard this fall and is trying to return to his normal pitching form after battling back from illness earlier this year.  

*Carter Penn is a left-handed outfielder and batter from Lutheran North High School, Macomb, Michigan.  Carter is an outstanding athlete that can run and hit.   

*Kyle Pretzer is a right-handed pitcher from Lutheran North High School, Macomb, Michigan.  Kyle was limited this fall due to injury, but he has exciting potential when healthy. 

*Ryley Reynolds is a right-handed pitcher and infielder from Russell Christian Academy High School, Meridian, Mississippi.  Ryley is the first baseball player at Calvin from Mississippi, and had a solid fall both on the mound and at the plate. 

*James Ross is a right-handed pitcher from Carmel High School, Carmel, Indiana.  James had an outstanding fall, and we look forward to his continued growth this off season 

*Evan Steinbacher is a right-handed pitcher from Sparta High School, Sparta, Michigan, who has made tremendous strides this fall on the mound. 

*Christian Stevens is a utility player from South Lyon High School, South Lyon, Michigan, who saw action both in the infield and outfield.  Christian had a solid fall hitting the ball. 

*Levi Suter is a right-handed pitcher from Martinsville High School, Martinsville, Indiana.  Levi is looking to make a contribution to the Knights after working his way back from injury. 

*Wriley Symons is an outfielder from Northwood High School, Nappanee, Indiana.  Wriley has dealt with injuries in the past but has worked hard to move forward.  We are looking forward to Wriley having a healthy spring. 

*Nat Taylor is from North Cobb Christian High School, Kennesaw, Georgia. He came in as an outfielder and we quickly moved him to catcher.  His size and strength helped in this transition. 

*Dawson VanderLugt is a right-handed pitcher from Northville High School, Northville, Michigan.   Dawson battled injuries his senior year of high school. He is now healthy and had a solid fall on the mound.
