Men's Golf Opens MIAA Fall Tournament in Fourth Place

WYOMING, Mich. - The Calvin men's golf team finished day one of the the 36-hole MIAA Fall Tournament in fourth place on Friday at Kaufman Golf Course.

The Knights finished the day with a team score of 317 strokes after all five players scored between 77 and 81 on their cards.

Jack Marzolino (Byron Center, Mich./Byron Center) led the way for the Knights with a round of 77 to tie for 11th place overall at the meet. After shooting five-over par 41 on the front nine, Marzolino made three birdies on the back nine for an even-par 36.

Tim Braun (Northville, Mich./Northville) finished behind him with a round of 79, followed by Gannon McDonough (Pentwater, Mich./Pentwater) with an 80. Jacob Siebenga (Surrey, B.C./Surrey Christian) and Louis Breems (Grand Rapids, Mich./Grand Rapids Christian) each followed with a round of 79.

The low round of day for Calvin came from Matt Turcotte (Grandville, Mich./Calvin Christian) who shot a one-under par 71 playing as individual to tie for the second-best score of the round.

Adrian finished with the lowest team score with a round of 299, followed by Hope (304) and Trine (306) in the top three.

NEXT UP: Calvin men's golf will return to action tomorrow (Saturday, October 15) when it plays in day two of the MIAA Fall Tournament at Kaufman Golf Course. Second round action starts at 10 AM with a shotgun start.
