ALLENDALE, Mich. – The Calvin women's indoor track and field team competed at the Bob Eubanks Open on the campus of Grand Valley State University Saturday afternoon.
Calvin had a stellar day of distance running and field event competition.
Senior Sadie Heeringa (Grand Rapids/Grand Rapids Christian HS) highlighted the day by taking second in the 3000 meter run with a career-best time of 9:46.05. Her time ranks third on the NCAA III Women's Indoor Track and Field list.
Sophomore Jenna Allman (Ann Arbor, Mich./Saline HS) took eighth with a career-best time of 10:22.41. Her time ranks 21st on the NCAA III list.
Senior Brynne Winiarski (Naperville, Il./Neuqua Valley HS) produced a career-best time of 10:56.16 that was good for 22nd place.
In the triple jump, sophomore Jessye Vanden Akker (Whitinsville, Mass./Whitinsville Christian HS) was seventh with a leap of 33-8 ½.
Competing unattached, senior Waverly VerHill (Pittsburgh, Pa./Trinity Christian HS) took fifth in the weight throw with a season-best mark of 49-3 ¾.
The Knights also had a pair of strong marks in the shot put. Sophomore Jane Dunlap (Kingsley, Mich./Kingsley HS) was ninth (32-8 ¼) while sophomore Olivia Vande Vegte (Bellflower, Ca./Valley Christian HS) was 12th (30-9 ¾).
Calvin returns to action on January 22 when competes at the Mike Lints Invitational at Grand Valley State University.
