GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – The Calvin men's cross country reserve team competed at the Knight/Raider Invitational Saturday morning at the Gainey Athletic Complex. The meet is co-hosted by Calvin and Grand Rapids Community College.
Calvin finished third in a field of 10 teams with a team score of 89 points.
Freshman Caleb Schillinger (North Liberty, Ia./Liberty) was Calvin's top finisher, placing 14th with a time of 26:58 on the 8K course.
Senior William Terpstra (Lombard, Il./Timothy Christian HS) was next for Calvin, placing 15th in 27:02.
Senior Charlie Kornoelje (Grand Rapids, Mich./Grand Rapids Christian HS) was close behind, placing 19th in a time of 27:11 with sophomore Jacob Buit (Hudsonville, Mich./Unity Christian HS) placing 25th (27:38) and senior Nathan Klaasen (Hudsonville, Mich./Unity Christian HS) finishing 26th (27:42) to round out Calvin's top five finishers.
The rest of Calvin's finishers included junior Thomas Noble (Denver, Co./Denver Christian HS) in 33rd (28:14), junior Derek Sall (Grandville, Mich./Calvin Christian HS) in 47th (28:54), sophomore Hayden VerHill (Pittsburgh, Pa./Trinity Christian HS) in 51st (29:05) and freshman Andrew Huyser (Grand Rapids, Mich./Grand Rapids Christian HS) in 64th (29:57).
Aquinas took first place in the team standings with 22 points.
NEXT UP: The Calvin Reserve Cross Country Team will compete on October 1 at the Lansing Community College Invitational at 1:15 p.m.
