Calvin University senior Ryan Sarkett was named MIAA Athlete of the Week for men's cross country on Monday.
 
Sarkett (Pittsburgh, Pa./Upper St. Clair) won the award after a strong finish in the Knight Invite on Calvin's home course at Gainey Athletic Complex on Saturday, October 4.
 
At the Knight Invite, Sarkett finished the 8k race in a time of 26:39.3 to place 17th overall and 12th officially among collegiate runners.
 
Sarkett was the first Calvin runner to cross the finish line and helped the Knights to a third-place finish with a team score of 80 points.
 
Calvin cross country will return to action on October 18 when the Knights run in the Interregional Invitational hosted by Augustana College.
