SPRING ARBOR, Mich. - The Calvin women's tennis team saw its four-match win streak come to an end as the Knights dropped a 6-3 non-conference decision at Spring Arbor University Tuesday afternoon.
The host Cougars took all three doubles points to grab a commanding early lead.
Spring Arbor claimed the top two singles flights to clinch the match with tiebreakers involved in both matches. Junior Emily Schellenboom (Grand Rapids, Mich./Grand Rapids Christian HS) was a 7-6, 6-0 winner for Calvin over Sela Clifford at No. 3 singles. Cameron Cyrus (Naperville, Il./Neuqua Valley HS) picked up a point for Calvin, defeating Paige Trela 6-3, 6-4 at No. 4 singles. Junior Alexis Ganop (Riverview, Mich./Riverview Community HS) claimed a three-set win at No. 5 singles for the Knights, winning the super tiebreaker 10-7.
Calvin will conclude its regular season on Saturday when it hosts Trine at 11 a.m. at the Strikwerda Tennis Courts.
