LANSING, Mich. - Calvin opened play at the Capitol City Classic by falling to Bethel of Indiana 4-3. The Knights split the six singles flights but Bethel took the lone doubles point. The match was played with pro-set scoring.

In singles, senior Alexis Bonner (Alto, Mich./Forest Hills Central HS) claimed her first singles win of the year with a 6-1, 6-1 win at No. 3 singles. Junior Alexis Ganop (Riverview, Mich./Riverview Community HS) did the same, winning 6-2, 6-4 at No. 5 singles. Junior Sara Kroeze (Holland, Mich./Holland Christian HS) was a 6-3, 6-2 winner at No. 6 singles.

Ganop and junior Grace Brown (Middleville, Mich./Thornapple-Kellogg HS) were 6-3 winners at No. 2 doubles but the Pilots claimed wins at No. 1 and No. 3 doubles to seal the win.

Calvin continues action at the tournament this weekend.
