Grand Rapids, MI – The Calvin University men's basketball will host Kalamazoo College for a conference matchup this Wednesday night. Tip-off is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
The Teams: Calvin and Kalamazoo. The Knights enter the game with a 5-3 overall record and a 1-0 MIAA record. They most recently defeated Adrian with a score of 59-57. The Hornets enter the game with 3-2 overall record and a 2-2 MIAA record. They most recently defeated Alma with a score of 76-67.
The Coaches: Bill Sall is in his 2nd season as head coach of the Calvin men's basketball program. He led the Knights to a 15-11 overall record last year and made it to the MIAA Tournament Semifinals. Nick Giard is in his 2nd season as head coach of the Kalamazoo men's basketball program. He was recently an assistant coach for the past two years at Williams College.
The Players: The Knights have three players averaging double digits in scoring. Thad Shymankski is averaging 17.5 points per game while teammate Emmett Warners is averaging 15.0. Brandon Paul is now averaging 12.4 points and 7.9 rebounds per game. The Hornets have two players averaging double digits in scoring: Merritt Hamann (16.8), Thomas Cook (13.8).
