Grand Rapids, MI – The Calvin University men's basketball will play in a home conference matchup against Trine University Wednesday evening. Tipoff is scheduled for 7:30pm.
The Teams: Calvin and Trine. The Knights enter the game with an 3-1 overall record and most recently got a victory over Alma College with a score of 93-72. The Thunder enter the game with 5-0 overall record and most recently got a win over Olivet College with a score of 91-79.
The Coaches: Bill Sall is in his 2nd season as head coach of the Calvin men's basketball program. He led the Knights to a 15-11 overall record last year and made it to the MIAA Tournament Semifinals. Brook Miller is in his 9th season as the head coach of the Trine men's basketball program. His tenure has included eight consecutive top-four MIAA finishes and were the 2019 MIAA Regular-Season Champions this past year. This was the first MIAA championship in Trine history. The Thunder have posted an overall record of 124-86 under Miller.
The Players: The Knights have three players averaging double digits in scoring with Thad Shymankski averaging 18.3 points per game and Jordan Katje is averaging 13.5 points with 9.3 rebounds a game. Teammate Emmett Warners is also averaging 14.0 points a game with 9.0 rebounds as well. The Thunder have two players averaging double digits in scoring with Nick Bowman averaging 21.4 ppg and Brent Cox with 12.6 ppg.
