Grand Rapids, MI – The Calvin University women's basketball will host Alma College in their first game this season on Saturday with tipoff scheduled for 3:00pm.
The Teams: Calvin and Alma. The Knights will be playing their first game of the 2020-21 season. The Scots comes in with a record of 0-1 and most recently fell to Trine with a score of 67-26.
The Coaches: Mark Christner is in his 2nd season as head coach of the Calvin women's basketball program. He finished with a record of 17-10 and made it to the MIAA Semifinals last year. Sami Stormont is in her 2nd season as the head coach of the Alma women's basketball program and finished with a record of 12-14. She was recently the lead assistant coach for two years before becoming the head coach.
The Players: Gabby Timmer was the only Calvin player to average double digits with 16.9 points per game, and she is also averaging 9.2 rebounds per game last year. Jeny Brandt is the leading scorer for the Scots with 10.3 points a game. She is also averaging 9.2 rebounds a game which is tied for second in the MIAA last year.
