Box Score NOTRE DAME, IN – The Calvin women's lacrosse team extended its win streak to five games with a 19-4 conference victory at Saint Mary's College Wednesday afternoon.
The Knights are now 7-5 overall and more importantly atop the MIAA standings with a 4-0 conference record.
Calvin used a seven unanswered goals over the final 13:18 of the first half to take control. The Knights gained a 2-0 lead on goals by junior Carolyn Forbes and freshman Amanda Davio but Saint Mary's answered with a goal of its own to slice the deficit in half. The score remained 2-1 until the Knights went on a scoring surge led by four goals from Davio and two from sophomore Emily Cefaratti.
Calvin then scored the first six goals of the second hand never looked back – en route to the win.
Davio scored a game-high seven goals on just nine shots while also causing five turnovers, collecting four ground balls and winning four draw controls.
Cefarrati had six goals, four ground balls, three assists and won three draw controls.
Forbes contributed three goals and two assists while senior Karissa Reed had two goals, one assist, four ground balls and three draw controls won.
Freshman Madeline Baas had one goal while freshman Emma Hall, senior Lindsey Ryskamp and junior goalkeeper Corry Remy had four ground balls apiece. Remmy had two saves in goal for the Knights.
Calvin will now prepare to open a three-game home stand Friday when it hosts Alma at 5 p.m. at Zuidema Field.
