Women's Tennis Blanked by Hope 9-0

HOLLAND - Calvin dropped a 9-0 decision to rival Hope Saturday afternoon. The Knights are now 5-10 overall and 3-3 in the MIAA and will need a win at Saint Mary's on Wednesday to remain alive in a bid for the four-team MIAA Tournament.

The regionally-ranked Flying Dutch rolled through the doubles-portion of the match, winning 8-4 over junior Megan Visser (Kalamazoo/Kalamazoo Christian HS) at one doubles, 8-6 over senior Bethany Zoerhof (Holland/Holland Christian HS) and freshman Ellie Benzel (San Dimas, CA/San Dimas HS) at two doubles and 8-2 over freshman Liz Turner (Audobon, PA/Delaware County Christian HS) and junior Courtney Selvius (Hudsonville/Unity Chrisitan HS) at three doubles.

Visser had Calvin's top performance in singles, falling to regionally-ranked Nancy Benda 6-3, 7-5.

Calvin's match at Saint Mary's on Wednesday is scheduled to start at 4 p.m.
