The Calvin women's tennis team improved to 5-9 overall and to 3-2 in the MIAA with an 8-1 conference victory over Olivet Tuesday afternoon inside Calvin's Huizenga Tennis and Track Center.
Calvin swept the three doubles flights and then took five of the six singles points.
Victories came from junior Megan Visser (Kalamazoo/Kalamazoo Christian HS) and freshman Claire Spoelhof (Holland/Holland Christian HS) at No. 1 doubles, senior Bethany Zoerhof (Holland/Holland Christian HS) and freshman Ellie Benzel (San Dimas, CA/San Dimas HS) at No. 2 doubles and freshman Liz Turner (Audobon, PA/Delaware County Christian HS) and junior Courtney Selvius (Hudsonville/Unity Christian HS) at No. 3 doubles.
Visser, Spoelhof and Zoerhof then won No. 1, No. 2 and No. 3 singles flights respectively - all by 6-0, 6-0 scores.
Benzel was a 6-1, 6-0 winner at No. 4 singles and Turner a 6-2, 6-1 winner at No. 5 singles.
Calvin will now turn its attention to a Saturday conference match at rival Hope at 1 p.m.
